What We Know About the Series
The upcoming adult animated urban fantasy action series is based on Capcom’s beloved video game franchise and has been in development since 2018.

The series will primarily focus on Dante, Vergil, and Lady, drawing inspiration from the game’s rich lore.

Adi Shankar and his team have been working on this project since 2018, with a clear vision for the series.
“Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform”
Said Alex Larsen, the development partner of ‘Devil May Cry’.
As a self-proclaimed fan of the series, Shankar mentioned he has cosplayed in response to the game, which attracted the company in charge of the games. He brought parallels between “Devil May Cry” and the comic book “Iron Man” in terms of popularity and wanted to give it a revision inspired by Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy.
This marks the franchise’s second anime adaptation, following Madhouse’s 2007 version, and expectations are high for this new interpretation of the beloved demon-hunting saga.
With its release set for April 3, 2025, Devil May Cry is poised to be one of the most anticipated anime debuts of the spring season, promising to deliver the stylish action and supernatural drama that fans of the games have come to love.
