Shin-chan dad gets Anime Adaptation
Exciting news for fans of the “Crayon Shin-chan” universe! The spin-off manga “Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch Style” is set to be adapted into a anime, premiering in October 2025 on BS Asahi.
This series, which focuses on the culinary adventures of Shin-chan’s father, Hiroshi Nohara, promises to bring a fresh and humorous take on the everyday life of a salaryman.
Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch Style follows the titular character, a 35-year-old salaryman, as he navigates the challenges of enjoying a satisfying lunch within the constraints of a limited budget and time.
The series delves into Hiroshi’s meticulous approach to his midday meals, exploring various cooking trivia, preparation methods, and the relatable struggles of a working professional.
A key visual has been released, featuring Hiroshi Nohara standing in front of an office district lined with restaurants. Toshiyuki Morikawa, known for his role as Hiroshi in the original “Crayon Shin-chan” anime will reprise his role in this new series. He was also the voice actor for Namikaze Minato from Naruto and Griffith from Berserk.
The anime is directed by Tsukasa Nishiyama, who previously worked on “The Human Crazy University”.
The series composition is handled by Hayashi Mori, with Moral contributing to the scripts. Character designs are by Kotaro Yamawaki, and the music is composed by Akifumi Tada. The animation is produced by DLE, known for their work on “Secret Society Eagle Talon”.
The manga, written and illustrated by Yoichi Tsukahara, began serialization in Futabasha’s “Manga Town” in December 2015 and later moved to the official “Crayon Shin-chan” website in January 2024. It has been collected into 13 tankobon volumes as of March 2025. The series has gained significant popularity, with over 800,000 copies in circulation.
Tsukasa Nishiyama shared his thoughts on the project, saying,
“When I first heard about the role, my thought was, ‘I’m sure I’ll get hungry while working.’ Then, once we actually started working…I got really hungry, which was difficult.
I hope you will enjoy ‘Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch Style,’ an anime made using the sounds of so many different people’s stomachs as fuel!”
Yoichi Tsukahara expressed his excitement about the adaptation, saying,
“When I first heard about the idea of adapting it into an anime, I was over the moon. When I read the script they sent me, I was even happier, thinking that they understood me.
When I saw the finished product, I was amazed at how wonderful it was. I was then able to attend the dubbing session, and when Toshiyuki Morikawa’s voice was added, I felt like I was beyond heaven, and even beyond the galaxy.
While following the original, the story is even more entertaining. Whether you’ve read the original manga or not, I hope you’ll look forward to it!”
Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch Style is poised to be a delightful addition to the “Crayon Shin-chan” franchise, offering a unique perspective on the life of a salaryman through the lens of his lunchtime rituals.
With a talented cast and crew, and the charm of the original manga, this anime is sure to be a hit with fans old and new. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to catch the premiere in October 2025!
